How to Enable Monetization in YouTube by Linking to Adsense

YouTube is growing, and it is even bigger than the TV, there are YouTubers making millions from their channels. We have shared a detailed guide on how to get started with YouTube.

You know how it works, Create great videos consistently, Grow your subscriber base and get as much attention you can for your videos. Your goal is to get more engagement on your videos. And then you can monetize your videos with Ads by Enabling Monetization on Your channel.

In this post, I’ll show you how to enable Monetization for your YouTube channel.

YouTube is owned by Google, which also owns Google Adsense, a program that distributes ads to publishers. The majority of the Ads you see on websites are served by Google Adsense.

Advertisers pay Google for these ads and Google pays the publishers for the Ads served on their properties (blog, websites etc) and keeps a percentage of the money itself for their services. Google also lets YouTube publishers serve ads by linking it to Google Adsense account.

Now, if you already own a Google Adsense account, you can easily link it to YouTube and start monetizing your videos.

If not, you will have to signup for Google Adsense.

Assuming that you already have an Adsense account and your YouTube account is associated with the same Google account which is linked to Google Adsense, you can go to youtube.com/features where you will find the Monetization section.

How much you can make on YouTube.

Now to the interesting question, how much can you earn from YouTube?
Well, it depends on many factors such as the topic of the Channel, the type of Videos, how the viewers are engaging with it.

There are a different types of Ads that appear in the videos, these are

  1. Display Ads – Appears in the right sidebar
  2. Ad Overlays – Banner Ad that appears on the video
  3. Sponsored Cars – Appear on the top right of the video.
  4. Skippable Video Ads – Appear before the video starts

You can enable any or all the options for your videos. Different types require different actions from the viewer in order to generate a revenue.

For example, the Display ads, like any other display ads that appear on a website, will generate revenue one someone clicks on them. The Skippable Ads generate revenue when someone decides to see the video ad.

There are many other factors that come into play got generating revenue. Google itself answers a few importation question on the monetization page, you must go through it for a better understanding of how it works.

One of my Channel, which is on Food/Cooking niche, makes $100 ever 100,000 views. Which comes down to $1000 for 1 million views. These 1 million views can either come from 1 video or 10 videos, but to make $1000/month, my videos need to have 1 million views.

I would say that $1000 is a decent income but getting 1 million views is not that easy. Don’t expect it too early, in fact, do not expect it for a few initial months.

I hope this post helps you find the answers you were looking for. I am spending a lot of time learning about new ways bloggers and web publishers can improve their revenue. You can connect with me on Facebook or Twitter or sign up via newsletter to keep getting useful advice
